Robertstown Tidy-Towns

In our first year we plan to do the Basics, which is to get the village clean. We set of by organizing a weekly litter pick-up. Paint up existing, furniture such as lamp columns, ballads ,weeding flower beds etc .
We will try to incorporate all the groups in our village. I.e. G.A.A, Club, School, Football etc,

and to educate children and adults alike and to lead by example. So when it comes to year two we should be well established. We would also be working on what area's need attention most and what way we could tackle them and utilize that area for the common good and take into consideration the wild life, the plant life and the environment , with these insitu we should be ready to go into the future well armed.

Year 2 's aim is to concentrate on an area which needs urgent attention we have highlighted several areas, and our 1st would be Annsborough, our aim would be to complete this project before our next tidy towns competition and then to go on to our next project. As it is a small village which needs alot of attention there are plenty of areas that need much planning, fundraising and enthusiasm, we would also like to get in touch with our local T.Ds, councilors, and other official bodies that can help within Our Village. To inform them with our aims and goals and also to inform them our 1-5 yr plan.

Year 3
We would like to have or well on the way to having a recycling center as the existing site is unsafe, inadequate, and poorly maintained. The new one which we have in mind will be accessible to all and would have more facilities for the likes of clothing, plastic, cardboard as well as the usual glass and cans. Idealy it would be a site on its own with easy parking and a footway entrance, surrounded by trees and strong fragrant smelling shrubs, which would eliminate any foul smell or unsightly views, and could become a habitat for wildlife.

Year 4
4. By this stage we would like to think we would be well and on the way to utilizing our best assid which is our canal. Unfortunately it has been neglected in years gone by. We would like to make a nature trail from Robertstown to Lowtown and in time even further. This nature trail would consist of information boards along the walk about our existing wildlife, marine life, plant life, not to forget insects. There is anbuntance of life along our canal and its banks, lets take advantage of it. We could run education trips both along the canal and on its banks, we could invite urban schools to our rural environment and educate them in why we should look after it and all this would culminate with a proper monument to our canal and its past. For our dog walkers proper poop bins and litter bins as there is none at present if we could utilize this resource, it could bring much need tourism, and employment to our village, and to our local community a pride and fulfillment in these dark times of recession.

Year 5

To reflect on our achievements and to prepare for the next five years and at this stage we should be well established and very active in our community. We will be looking to advance on what we have built up and to expand on our long term projects such as the canal, and extending its nature trail. Our goal for the tidy towns is simple we would like to have and to live in a Tidy Town.
